Innovation Philadelphia is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting technology-driven economic growth in the Philadelphia Region through growing the for-profit creative industries. The organization aims to attract and retain young professionals vital to economic growth, while fostering entrepreneurship and new ideas.

The use of the light bulb, to capture the concept of energy and big ideas, with the kite, which everyone associates with Benjamin Franklin (the epitomical innovator and a symbol of Philadelphia), best reflects Innovation Philadelphia's mission.
